Just after midnight on Thursday July 30th Westfield Fire was dispatched to 163 Trolley Crossing for a reported structure fire. On arrival, Assistant Chief Jason Lubee reported smoke showing and fire at the rear of the 3-story multi-family dwelling. Westfield fought the 3-alarm blaze with mutual aid assistance from Middletown, South Fire, Cromwell, Middlefield, East Berlin, Portland, Haddam, Durham, and Rocky Hill Fire Departments. The fire is under investigation with the Westfield Fire Marshal's Office, the Middletown Police Department and the CT State Police Fire Investigation Unit. The Middletown Building and Health Departments were also on-scene. Two firefighters were transported to Middlesex Hospital for heat exhaustion and were released. No civilians were injured. Residents from 12 units were displaced and have been offered support from the American Red Cross.
