Westfield Fire Department
In July of 1931, a meeting was called by the Reverend David Yale to discuss fire defense for the Westfield District of the City of Middletown. A committee headed by Ed Nedley was formed to organize a fire company and proposed recruiting young volunteers for a fire company.
On August 3, 1931, the Westfield Volunteer Fire Department was founded with 15 men joining the department.
We're proud to continue in the tradition of our founders and serve the Westfield District community. We are a combination department staffed by volunteers and eight daytime employees. The district is protected by two Engines, one Tanker, one Tower Ladder, one Heavy Rescue, two EMS Trucks, two Brush/Forestry Service Trucks and a Polaris 6x6.
